Well done to Stevie Rankine, Murdie MacKinnon and all the Ashfield squad for their wonderful performances this season. Today was no different, and only for the wonderful saves from the Meadow`s goalkeeper, the final result would have been reversed. Apart from the two shots which resulted in goals, Ashfield`s goalkeeper rarely handled the ball. The season is not yet over for should the team qualify for the Evening Times Champion`s Trophy which is more than likely, similar performances like today will take them far.

Congratulations to Stevie, Murdoe and all the team for a wonderful show against the Meadow this afternoon. It again proves that this team need not fear any other Junior team in Scotland and with the experience and confidence gained this season and minor changes during the close season, they have everything to play for next season in this league.

The red card certainly made the difference but Ashfield still had to dig deep to win and scored a couple of good goals. Masterstoke formation from Stevie & Murdo, especially midfield were the dominated for the full 90 minutes. Great win for the boys and another big game next Saturday against Arthurlie.

Another valuable point for Ashfield and a great second half performance for the second week running from Ashfield. What does Stevie and Murdo say at halftime, it is a pity the substitutes are not present to hear the game plan for it certainly works. While not 100% save from the playoff or relegation spots, a lot of scores would have to go against them not to get safely over the survival mark. The game at Arthurlie will be vital one,for a draw would come in handy and a win would ensure 100% safety. All the best against the Rob Roy and also against the Meadow on Saturday. C`mon the Field

Wasso had another good game as well especially in the 2nd half. Not sure why it never started that way but hey ho good point and definitely scuppers Petershills chances of title. Can't see anyone beating Medda (except Ashfield of course lol). All the best to the boys tomorrow at Kirkintilloch lets go for that bit of silverware.

Well done again to Stevie, Murdo and all the squad for more than holding our own against the present League Leaders. Any independent observer at the game on Saturday would have difficulty in picking which team was the League Leaders. This Saturday will be a stiff test for the team, Troon are top of their League and are consistently high scorers so Ashfield will have to be at their best to win through to play St Roch`s in the next round. All the best for Saturday!!!! C`mon the Field

Ashfield must learn from this unfortunate set back today and can come back twice as strong. They must not let their spirits fall for If they had shown more composure during the last five minutes of the game today their name would have deservedly been in the hat for the quarter final draw. They must realise that they are now able to compete against the best junior teams in the land and with a little more experience and confidence they have a bright future ahead due to the great efforts of Stevie Rankin and his Bench.

I am sorry Ashfield lost but I agree with a little more experience and confidence they have a bright future." As an ex player I would like to say that Stevie and his coaches staying at AFC is a massive boost for the club, nobody can blame them for maybe looking at what they could achieve with Pollok (the only two things they have still to achieve with AFC, Scottish and Super League)...but it shows you the guys relationship with the club and how unsure he was when he (reportedly) turned the job down at the last minute. The club has come from nothing and I would say it is now close to one of the best run Junior clubs around in Scotland and that is credit to the players and staff. There is a lot of great junior players around just now but some look for a decent wage and no one can blame them if that's what they want but people should remember this club was built with money being the last thing on the players and staff's minds....they all play for the Jersey which is evident with the success so far....All the best Ashfield FC! *****

Spoke to Stevie at the Shire game yesterday,he said that he had a bad feeling about the pollok situation from the start, hes delighted that hes still at ashfield, with people he can trust, players, coaching staff, committe, also was impressed with the shire, and delighted for Billy his ex team mate, ashfield and the shire are doing so well because of team spirit and good players not cash Rankins words,so both the teams from the north going the right direction

Ashfield`s players will not need much motivation for Saturday`s Cup game on saturday for with Stevie Rankine showing great loyalty to the team he has built up and deciding to stay on at Saracen Park, the players have a great chance to repay his loyalty by qualifying for the next round of the Scottish Cup. It is a difficult task they are facing for Whitletts have set a high standard this season and will be a hard team to beat. C`mon the Field!!!!

Wonderful news that Stevie and his great staff decided to stay at the club.Pollock was not the job for him, they are not good to their managers so I don't think Stevie would have put up with the crap. What you have done for this club over many yearshas been fantastic, keep it going you are a legend.

Ashfield were given a lesson yesterday by the Talbot on how to play high tempo purposeful football. It is hoped that Ashfield players can learn from this defeat and take the lessons learnt into the rest of the season. It is consolation to know that they will not be playing Auchinleck Talbot every week.!!!!!!!! C`mon the Field!!!

Yes Auchinleck are a very good team but most of the damage done in the game was self inflicted. We will not play as bad again in a very long time hopefully. On our day we can match any team but Sarturday was definatley not one of them. I have no doubt we will bounce back this week against Cumnock.

Stevie and his coaching staff must be proud of their players for bouncing back to winning form at Bathgate on Saturday. The winning of this hard fought game was due in a large part to the great team spirit which has been generated within the Ashfield squad during the last few seasons and which was in evidence on Saturday. Keep it going lads.C`mon the Field

Yes a very good result on Saturday. The team played a lot better than they did against Arthurlie last week but i am sure there is more to come from this side. Thought Tommo was very unlucky to be sent off on Sat. Hard game this week against Auckinleck but I am sure they will give us total respect. Looking forward to the game.
