Ashfield made it through to the 2nd Round of the Scottish Junior Cup this afternoon winning a hard fought encounter 3-1 against Aberdeen East End. An awesome Second Half performance from Ashfield this afternoon at Tinto Park, Govan, netting 6 goals and finishing up winning 7-2 against a very determined Benburb Team. Ashfield suffered a heavy defeat tonight (4-0) in the Semi-Final of the Sectional League Cup at Saracen Park. Ashfield created plenty of chances but could not find the net. Paul Maxwell was also taken to hospital with a suspected broken ankle to cap a miserable night for the 'field'. Ashfield won on penalties (4-3) this evening against Glencairn after a 1-1 draw. Paul Maxwell scored the winning penalty to take the `field into next week`s Semi Final against Shotts Bon Accord at Saracen Park (3/9/08). Ashfield overcame a very determined Yoker Athletic this evening at Saracen Park to win the League Cup Section for the first time since the 1988-89 Season. An excellent achievement ! Ashfield lost 1-0 today against Glencairn at New Southcroft Park in the First League Match of the Season. Ashfield squandered numerous chances and were denied an absolute 'stonewaller' of a penalty midway through the Second Half against a very good Glencairn Team. The Referee was the only person in the ground who did not see this as a penalty and his performance undermined the high level played by both teams today. Ashfield defeat Chryston Amateurs 3-1 in their 2nd pre-season friendly. Goals from Craig Smith, Ryan Cairley and Davie Gumley secured the win.

Ashfield lost their 1st pre-season friendly on Saturday 19th July against Knightswood Amateurs. Plenty of chances were created and the team played well with recent signing Craig Smith grabbing the goal for Ashfield.
