This is an exciting new era for the `field and we would all like to welcome John Conlin and Ian Ritchie to Saracen Park.

The dust is beginning to settle on the Season ending and although it was an exciting end, Ashfield unfortunately will be playing in the West SuperLeague First Division next Season after losing out on penalties to Largs Thistle which involved competing in 2 terrific Play-Off Games that finished in a 7-7 aggregate score. In addition after 10 Years as Manager of Ashfield Football & Athletic Club, Stevie Rankin has accepted the Irvine Meadow Managers Position. Along with Stevie, Murdie MacKinnon, Billy Kerr, David Gumley & Physio Donna Hunter will head to Meadow Park and everyone connected with Ashfield F & A C and especially the Website Team would like to thank them all for their wonderful service to the Club. 3 Promotions in 5 Seasons was a tremendous feat together with 4 Cup Finals in the last 3 Seasons and this with very limited resources. Ashfield lost the Euroscot Engineering Central League Cup Final by 3-0 against Pollok at Newlandsfield Park this evening (10/6/2013) in what was Stevie Rankin`s last Match in charge of the `field before heading down to Irvine Meadow. It has been a disappointing week for Ashfield and although the Match went in all square at the interval, Second Half Goals from Monti (x2) and Sawyers sealed the `loks victory. Despite another large attendance, the `field had `nothing left in the tank` after playing 3 vital Matches in a week but taking nothing away from Pollok and congratulations go out to them after a very good Second Half performance. Video footage below of the goals and presentations: Many Thanks to Davie Brown for the footage.

Many Thanks to Sean Storrie for the Photographs.
Ashfield and Largs Thistle fought out a very entertaining 3-3 draw in the West SuperLeague Premier Division 1st Leg at Saracen Park this evening (3/6/2013). The Match had everything, great goals, controversy, bookings etc....in front of Ashfield`s biggest home attendance of the Season. Paul Maxwell had put the `field ahead in 20 Minutes with a header before Largs equalised before the break. The `field then had a goal disallowed before Largs took the lead in the 2nd Half. Ashfield made a couple of changes and it was substitute Alistair Martin who drilled the ball past the Largs Keeper to level the scoring before Mark Thomson scored from the spot to put the `field ahead. It looked like the home side would take a 1 goal lead down to Barrfields on Wednesday night, however the Ayrshire Team had other ideas levelling with a header from a free-kick with 5 minutes left. Its all to play for on Wednesday night and the expected large crowd will be in for a treat if both teams perform as they did this evening.Goals from Last nights match below: Many Thanks to Davie Brown for producing the footage:-

Ashfield progressed to the Final of the Euroscot Engineering Central League Cup Final by defeating neighbours Petershill 1-0 at Saracen Park last night (20/5/2013). A remarkable achievement from the `field and this will be their 4th Cup Final in the last 3 Seasons. Ashfield played extremely well and the game was settled by a Robert Wright goal in the 43rd Minute & despite a late onslaught from the `Peasy`, the Ashfield defence held firm ably marshalled by Jim Smith who was in the heart of the action all night. The game was watched by a very good Crowd last night and the `field will now meet either Pollok or Neilston in the Final at a venue still to be decided. Video of the Winning goal for Ashfield underneath.
Many Thanks to Davie Brown for producing this video

Ashfield progressed into the Semi Final of the Euroscot Engineering Central League Cup with a hard fought 2-1 win over Shettleston Juniors at Saracen Park this evening (8/5/13). This had been the first time since a Scottish Junior Cup tie on 3rd November 2007 that the teams had met and it was the `field who made the better start going ahead in 8 Minutes from a wonderful Chris Hall effort. Despite going close & being denied by the woodwork it took Ashfield until the hour mark to go further ahead & the goal came via Paul Mangan. Shettleston had played well & got an enormous lift when Thomson headed in at the far post & it was `game on` with chances at both ends before Referee Steven Reid brought proceedings to a close. The `field will now take on local rivals Petershill at Saracen Park in the Semi Final with a date still to be confirmed. Match Report & Pics now on the following link:- Ashfield v Shettleston

Ashfield lost 2 late goals to League Champions Auchinleck Talbot at Saracen Park this evening (6/5/2013) in the `field`s final West SuperLeague Premier Division game of the Season & now puts the North Glasgow Team in a perilous position in terms of relegation. The Match was finely poised at 1-1 with Talbot down to 10 men before goals in the 85th & 89th Minute secured victory for the Ayrshire Men. Wilson had opened the scoring for the visitors on the half hour mark before Mark Thomson converted a 39th Minute penalty which saw Spence red-carded for handling the ball on the goal line. Ashfield are now hoping that Pollok, Arthurlie & Beith do not pick up many points in their last games to ensure top League Football at Saracen Park next Season. Ashfield suffered late anguish against Shotts Bon Accord at Saracen Park last night (29/4/2013) in the West SuperLeague Premier Division as the visitors equalised in the 4th Minute of injury time to secure a 1-1 draw. This result ensures that everything will `go the wire` in the Relegation fight with no less than 9 teams in contention for the bottom 3 spaces. It was an extremely competitive Match & the `field had to thank Goalkeeper Stephen Hall early on for a couple of excellent saves however as the half wore on the home side had the better of things culminating in Gary McCann`s goal. Both teams `went for it` in the 2nd Half with plenty of chances including a missed penalty for Ashfield before Jaconelli`s strike in the 94th Minute. Ashfield progressed to the Quarter Final of the Euroscot Engineering Central League Cup last night (24/4/2013) defeating Cumbernauld United by 3-1 at Saracen Park. Ashfield headed back up the M77 this evening wondering how they left Meadow Park without the points after dominating this West SuperLeague Premier Division encounter. A goal from Neil McGowan 7 minutes from time ensured the home side a victory they will be extremely happy about however the `field will be cursing their luck & missed chances as the League becomes even tighter at the bottom end. Not for the first time against Ashfield, the Irvine Meadow Keeper Wardrope had a terrific match pulling off some superb saves, especially in the first half. It is going to be a very exciting end to the Season with more than half the League now involved in a relegation battle. Match Report & Pics now on the following link:- Irvine Meadow v Ashfield

Ashfield suffered a narrow defeat this afternoon (13/04/13) against Clydebank at Holm Park. The Bankies opened the scoring after ten minutes and this proved to be the only goal of the game. Ashfield succumbed to a 2-0 defeat at Townhead Park, Cumnock this afternoon (6/4/2013) in the West SuperLeague Premier Division. A penalty decision in each half saw the Ayrshire Team take the spoils in a scrappy encounter and despite dominating the first 15 Minutes of the Match, the `field never got going after conceding the first half penalty & their poor run of form at this Ground continued. Cumnock were reduced to 10 men midway through the Second Half but apart from a Shaun Fraser effort which crashed off the Bar, Ashfield failed to make their numerical advantage pay. Shaun Fraser increased Ashfield`s lead in the 46th Minute lashing the ball into the roof of the net after a nice move before McCormack for the visitors scored emphatically from a free-kick on the edge of the box to ensure an exciting finish. The home side almost increased their lead on a couple of occasions towards the end with the woodwork coming to Greenock`s rescue. It`s back to League Business next Saturday and a trip to Townhead Park, Cumnock. Match Report and Pics now on the following link:- Ashfield v Greenock

Ashfield suffered their first League defeat in six games when they went down 3-1 to Arthurlie at Dunterlie Park, Barrhead this afternoon (16/3/2013) in the West SuperLeague Premier Division. It was a very open first half with the home side putting Ashfield under a great deal of pressure after their 13th minute opener however the `field stood firm and carved out some opportunities of their own pulling level through Gary McCann before James Marks put the home side ahead again with a header. Trailing 2-1 at the Interval, the field went further behind on the hour mark after a blunder in the middle of the park and struggled to get back into the Match in the freezing rain at Barrhead. Tony Chalmers almost reduced the deficit with 11 minutes to go however the home side held on to deservedly take the spoils. Match Report & Pics now on the following link:- Arthurlie v Ashfield

Ashfield and Pollok produced a terrific encounter at Saracen Park today (9/3/2013) in the West SuperLeague Premier Division with the `field coming from behind in the last few minutes to produce a dramatic finish winning by 3-2. Chris Hall was then sent off for Ashfield & to compound the home side`s misery, Deas equalised on the stroke of Half time for Pollok. Brian McGinty prodded the visitors ahead early in the 2nd Half before Craig Smith & Gary McCann sealed the points for the Ashfield in the later stages of the Match to put the home side 3rd in the table - an amazing turnaround from years in the Central League's.

The visitors had another couple of chances as Chris Hall & Gary McCann used their pace on the large playing surface however as the Match wore on the home side came into the Match & equalised midway through the half. It was an excellent first half encounter with both teams having a real go at each other. The Second half however was more of a dour affair with defences on top and chances were at a premium. Ashfield will be far happier with a point than their hosts today in what is a really tight League. Match Report and Pics now on the following link:- Shotts B A v Ashfield
