Welcome to the Ashfield Football & Athletic Club Website. Ashfield are one of the oldest Scottish Junior Football Clubs in Scotland, established in 1886 and are the first Junior Team to win 100 Trophies. Our home has been Saracen Park, Glasgow since 1937 and is one of the few Junior Grounds to have a Stand. Please have a look around this site, we hope you enjoy it!

Ashfield finished off their League Campaign in style with a tremendous victory against Auchinleck Talbot at Saracen Park this evening (14/5/2012) by 3-0. The `field were looking to overcome their Cup Final hangover with Auchinleck needing valuable points in their surge for Top Spot in the League. It was an end to end affair straight from the Kick-Off and the `field went in 1-0 up at the Interval courtesy of an excellent lobbed finish by Shaun Fraser. The same player increased Ashfield`s lead shortly after the interval before Alistair Martin added a third. The Talbot came back strongly in the last 25 Minutes hitting the woodwork twice & pressuring the Ashfield back four which stood firm ably backed by a great performance from Keeper Gary McLenaghan. Gary McCann almost added to Ashfield`s tally but was denied twice by Leishman in the Talbot Goal. Match Ball Sponsor - The Ashfield Website Team. Ashfield lost 2-0 to Irvine Meadow in the Final of the New Coin Automatics West of Scotland Cup this afternoon (12/5/2012) at Newlandsfield Park, Pollok. This was the first time Ashfield had made the Final of this Cup since it`s inception in the early 1930`s and they produced a very good display in front of a crowd of 1,141 & were only denied by some wonderful Goalkeeping from the Meadow Keeper & a couple of excellent finishes from McGowan & Barr. Both teams had met each other recently on League Business with the `field winning 3-1 at Saracen Park & the Meadow gaining revenge 10 days later at Meadow Park 2-0. Today`s game came to life after McGowan put the Meadow 1-0 up after 20 Minutes from a Free-Kick. After this Ashfield brought out 3 superb saves from Man of the Match Wardrope & this continued into the Second Half. Ashfield produced an outstanding performance particularly in the Second Half to beat Auchinleck Talbot 3-0 this afternoon (5/5/12) at Beechwood Park, Auchinleck in the Semi Final of the New Coin Automatics West of Scotland Cup. The `field produced the goods on the day and head to their first ever West of Scotland Cup Final after goals from Paul Maxwell (2) and Shaun Fraser. It was a tremendous all round team effort against the Scottish Cup Finalists and Ashfield will now meet Irvine Meadow in the Final at Newlandsfield Park, Pollok next Saturday (12/5/2012) -Kick-Off 2pm. Ashfield lost 2-0 to Irvine Meadow at Meadow Park this evening (2/5/2012) courtesy of two late goals from McGowan and Strain. In the `field`s second last League game of the Season, they were hampered by the sending off of Robert Wright in the 34th Minute and although keeping things tight, the Medda eventually got the breakthrough in the 71st Minute after a scramble in the box. Chris Strain sealed the win in the 89th Minute. The `field will now concentrate all their efforts on the West of Scotland Cup Semi-final at Beechwood Park against Auchinleck Talbot this Saturday (5/5/12) in what promises to be a cracker.
Ashfield and Arthurlie fought out a very entertaining 1-1 draw at Dunterlie Park, Barrhead today (28/4/2012) in the West SuperLeague Premier Division. The home side buoyed by their Midweek 4-0 win against Largs Thistle set off at great gusto however the `field matched their opponents very well indeed. Deas put the home side ahead in the 29th Minute before Ashfield`s left back Paul Mangan scored his first goal for the `field a minute before the break with a right foot shot from just inside the box. Ashfield stormed back from 1-0 down to take the three points this afternoon (21/4/2012) against Irvine Meadow X1 FC at Saracen Park. Mark Thomson pulled the `field level from the spot after Mark Campbell had been sent off and then before half time he headed Ashfield ahead with his 23rd Goal of the Season. Despite missing a couple of early Second Half chances it was a goal from Lee McShane that sealed the points for the `field with a header from a Jamie O`Boyle corner. This was a terrific win for Ashfield against potential League Champions & the `field will head with confidence to Barrhead next week to take on Arthurlie. Ashfield & Kirkintilloch Rob Roy produced an absolute cracker of a Central League Cup Tie this evening (17/4/12) at Adamslie Park with the home side eventually coming out on top 5-3. The Home side produced an excellent first half and despite Ashfield`s appeals for a penalty and a Robert Wright shot which grazed the post it was the home side who went in 3-0 up at the Interval courtesy of some clinical finishing. Despite losing a well taken fourth by Iain Diack, the `field produced a storming finish to the Match and at 4-3 it looked like it could go either way before Gormley completed the scoring in injury time. Ashfield produced an excellent Second Half Performance to dent Petershill`s Championship hopes in the local Derby at New Petershill Park this afternoon (14/4/12). It was the 4th Meeting between the Teams this Season and again as in the previous Matches, it was a fiercely competitive encounter. Ryan Jordan put the home side in front after 12 Minutes with a bullet header from a Free-Kick with the `field equalising from the spot with 5 minutes remaining. This was Petershill`s last West SuperLeague Premier Division Match with the `field having 4 remaining (Irvine Meadow & Auchinleck Talbot at home & Arthurlie & Irvine Meadow away ). Ashfield overcame a tough and resilient St Roch`s side by 2-1 to progress into the Semi Final of the New Coin Automatics West of Scotland Cup at Provanmill Park, Glasgow today (7/4/12). After a difficult opening period, William Ferguson opened Ashfield`s account before the home side equalised shortly after. The `field had to wait until 12 minutes from time to seal the win courtesy of a Shaun Fraser goal to the delight of the Ashfield support. Ashfield will now play Auchinleck Talbot in the Semi Final at Beechwood Park after the `bot came from behind to beat Cumbernauld Utd 2-1 today. Ashfield progressed into the 3rd Round of the Central League Cup after an impressive 4-1 victory away to Port Glasgow at the Ravenscraig Stadium, Greenock this afternoon (31/3/12). Leading 2-0 at Half Time courtesy of Goals from Ferguson and Thomson, the `field were pegged back to 2-1 before Fraser and a 2nd from Mark Thomson from the spot ensured a 3rd Round Tie against Kirkintilloch Rob Roy at Adamslie Park on Tuesday 17th April 2012 - 6.45pm Kick-Off.
It is with great sadness that we advise of the Death of William Caulfield. Bill joined the Club in May 1985 & became a Member of the Committee in 1987. He was General Secretary between 1994 & 2000 before becoming Stadium Manager from 2001 until last year. Bill became Life Member in 2003 and will be sorely missed around Saracen Park.
Ashfield progressed into the Quarter Finals of the New Coin Automatics West of Scotland Cup by defeating Ayrshire District League Leaders, Troon 3-1 at Saracen Park today (24/2012). This had been the first time the Teams have met since the 1960/61 Season when Ashfield won a West of Scotland Tie 6-2 at Troon. The `field made 8 changes to the Team that drew 2-2 Petershill and were made to work hard against the Ayrshire Team however Goals from Gary McCann & Shaun Fraser (2) ensured that the `field would head up the Road to Provanmill to take on St Roch`s in the Quarter Final. Ashfield and Petershill served up a cracker of a Match at Saracen Park this afternoon (17/3/12) in the first Springburn League Derby for 30 years producing a 2-2 draw. The visitors made a dream start scoring in 30 Seconds before Ashfield came storming back to produce a terrific first half display going in 2-1 up at the interval courtesy of goals from Maxwell & Thomson. Despite the `field having a good deal of the play in the 2nd Half it was Petershill who equalised with 18 minutes to go to ensure a storming finish where both teams had chances to clinch victory. Ashfield secured a terrific 2-0 win against Largs Thistle at Barrheads Park, Largs this afternoon (10/3/12) in the West SuperLeague Premier Division. It was a very hard fought Match however goals from Paul Maxwell and a penalty in the Second half from Mark Thomson ensured the `field headed back up to Glasgow with a valuable three points and a move up to 4th Place in the League. Ashfield and Kirkintilloch Rob Roy shared the spoils in a hard fought 1-1 draw at a windy Saracen Park this afternoon (3/3/12) in the West SuperLeague Premier Division. Both teams had chances to win the game however a draw was a fair result. Ashfield will be cursing the woodwork after Chris Hall & Paul Maxwell had a couple of efforts crash off the bar and Rob Roy will be wondering how they missed two open goals. The visitors took the lead midway through the Second half which was cancelled out by Mark Thomson`s 16th Goal of the Season from a Free-Kick with 10 minutes to go. does anyone know if there has been any history recorded re the Ashfield FC my grandfather Robert (Bobby) Elliott was a player known as Cleekes Elliott approx early 1900's any help would be absolutely Great .....thanks Helen
