Welcome to the Ashfield Football & Athletic Club Website. Ashfield are one of the oldest Scottish Junior Football Clubs in Scotland, established in 1886 and are the first Junior Team to win 100 Trophies. Ashfield welcome our near neighbours Kirkintilloch Rob Roy to Saracen Park this Saturday (28/1/2012) in the West SuperLeague Premier Division - Kick-Off 1.45pm. Both teams are on the 20 point mark and keen to progress further up the League. The `field have a couple of games in hand and will be looking for a repeat performance of the previous game at Adamslie Park when a great display saw the `field run out 5-2 winners. Ashfield progressed into the last 16 of the Emirates Scottish Junior Cup with a hard fought 1-0 victory over Dundee Violet at Glenesk Park, Dundee today (21/1/2012). The `field opened the scoring early in the first half courtesy of a Mark Thomson Penalty after Shaun Fraser had been brought down in the box. Ashfield had further chances to increase their lead however were up against a very strong Dundee Violet Team who had been undefeated at home all Season. Ashfield produced an outstanding Second Half display to sweep Cumnock aside by 3-0 at Saracen Park this afternoon (14/1/2012) in the New Coin Automatics West of Scotland Cup. Leading 1-0 at the interval through a Robert Wright goal, Ashfield lay siege on the Cumnock defence and scored a further 2 goals through Paul Maxwell and Robert Halliday. Ashfield will head up to Dundee next week in the Scottish Junior Cup with confidence on the back of this display. Ashfield and Kilbirnie Ladeside fought out a goal-less but entertaining game in dreadful weather conditions at Valefield Park, Kilbirnie this afternoon (7/1/2012) in the West SuperLeague Premier Division. Both teams deserve credit for putting on a decent showing with both Goalkeepers in top form. Ashfield almost nicked it in injury time when a netbound header from William Ferguson was saved by the Ladeside Keeper but overall a draw was a fair result. Ashfield made it through to the 4th Round of the Emirates Scottish Junior Cup winning 2-0 under floodlights against Whitletts Victoria at Dam Park, Ayr this afternoon (17/12/2011). Two goals from Shaun Fraser ensured that the `field will be heading up to Dundee in the 4th Round, taking on Dundee Violet at Glenesk Park. Ashfield started and finished well, scoring in the 4th & 92nd Minute against a luckless Whitletts Victoria who put on a very good show & will up there fighting for promotion in the West SuperLeague First Division this Season. Ashfield equalised with 5 Minutes to go against Whitletts Victoria in the Emirates Scottish Junior Cup 3rd Round to take the tie back down to Dam Park, Ayr next Saturday. As expected it was an extremely tough Match and the real winner was the Weather with treacherous underfoot conditions coupled with a swirling wind and driving rain. Both teams deserve credit for trying to play Football however it was Whitletts that probably adapted better to the conditions. Ashfield finished strongly equalising in the 85th Minute before almost winning it through a Chris Hall shot and then were denied a penalty in injury time. Ashfield equalised in the dying Minutes courtesy of a Mark Thomson header to secure a valuable point against `the Bankies` at Saracen Park on Saturday (19/11/2011) in the West SuperLeague Premier Division. Both teams had excellent results last week to `bounce` back from the week before and as always between these two teams it was a really competitive game. Clydebank, however will be disappointed at not heading back to Holm Park with all three points after leading 1-0 for a long period in the Match. Ashfield suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of Auchinleck Talbot at Beechwood Park today (5/11/2011) in the West SuperLeague Premier Division. After going down 2-0 early in the Match, the `field pulled a goal back through Chris Hall however the home side scored a further three goals before half time courtesy of some clinical finishing and individual errors from the `field. Ashfield continued to press forward in the Second Half and brought on Ferguson & McCann in a bid to reduce the deficit however the Home Side regularly counter-attacked with pace & determination and were clinical in their finishing to inflict one of our biggest defeats in recent history. It`s only 3 points lost and the boys will dust themselves down and prepare accordingly for the visit of Cumnock to Saracen Park next Saturday (12/11/2011). Ashfield progressed into the 3rd Round of the Emirates Scottish Junior Cup after coming from a Goal behind to defeat a talented Bathgate Thistle side 2-1 at Creamery Park, Bathgate this afternoon (29/10/11). The `field found themselves a goal down after 14 Minutes and had to withstand further pressure before settling into the game & missed two glorious chances to level in the first half. Ashfield`s Captain Mark Thomson equalised for Ashfield in the 51st Minute before picking up a 2nd booking to leave the `field with 10 Men. This did not stop Ashfield`s pressure on the home goal and were rewarded when Shaun Fraser whipped the ball into the box for William `Wasso` Ferguson to guide the ball in and put the Glasgow Team into the hat for the 3rd Round of the Emirates Scottish Junior Cup. Ashfield suffered a heavy defeat to Arthurlie by 5-2 at Saracen Park this afternoon (22/10/2011) in the West SuperLeague First Division. Ashfield could not have had a better start to the Match as within 2 minutes the `field were 1-0 up however some clinical finishing from Arthurlie throughout the first half had the `lie going in 4-1 up at the Interval. Despite pushing forward at every opportunity in the Second Half, it was the visitors that increased their lead on the hour mark through McLay. Mark Thomson pulled a goal back late on from the spot however the `field will have to `dust` themselves down as they head to Bathgate in the Scottish Junior Cup next week. Ashfield defeated Petershill 3-1 at Saracen Park today (15/10/11) in the First Round of the New Coin Automatics West of Scotland Cup. This is the first time that the `field have beaten the `Peasie` for many years & had to work extremely hard despite Petershill being reduced to 9 men after an hour. Goals from Mark Thomson (Pen), Shaun Fraser and Paul Maxwell ensured that the `field continued their terrific run and gained a bit of revenge for a 3-2 defeat earlier in the Season in the Sectional League Cup Quarter Final. Ashfield continued their terrific form with a 4-0 victory over Pollok at Saracen Park today (8/10/11) and moved to the top of the West SuperLeague Premier Division. After a very even First Half where Ashfield managed to get their `noses in front` courtesy of a Robert Halliday Goal, the `field stepped up a gear in the Second Half and produced an excellent display against a very experienced Pollok Team with further goals from Mark Thomson, Paul Maxwell & Gary McCann. Despite the weather conditions it was great to see such a large turn-out at Saracen Park and with the `field winning 5 out of their first 7 League games hopefully the Crowds will continue to return to the old Stadium. Ashfield progressed to the 2nd Round of the Emirates Scottish Junior Cup with a terrific display in Aberdeen against Banks `O Dee this afternoon (1/10/2011) winning by 6-1. The `field were up against it after 10 minutes when the home side scored however goals from Chris Hall, a bulleted header from Paul Maxwell and a goal from Shaun Fraser had the `field 3-1 up at the interval. Ashfield toppled the League Leaders Rob Roy at Adamslie Park, Kirkintilloch this afternoon (17/9/2011) producing a terrific display of attacking Football to win by 5-2. Ashfield had not visited Kirkintilloch on League Business for many years & made up for lost time with two early goals from Chris Hall before being pegged back by a Gorman strike. However the `field went on to score further first half goals from Ali Martin & Shaun Fraser to go in 4-1 up at the Interval. When Paul Maxwell added a fifth early in the 2nd half, the `field were in `Dreamland`. The Home side never sat back & were rewarded late on by a Fulton strike from 22 yards. Ashfield produced a terrific performance against Kilbirnie Ladeside at Saracen Park today (10/9/11) in the West SuperLeague Premier Division winning 6-1 and producing numerous other chances to climb a place in the League Table to 5th. It had been an end to end opening period & the visitors were delighted to take the lead through Craig Feroz midway through the Half. Ashfield went on to miss a Penalty however by this stage Kilbirnie were down to 10 Men. Eventually Ashfield scored through Chris Hall & went in front just before the interval courtesy of a Mark Thomson penalty. Chris Hall scored a 3rd for Ashfield at the start of the 2nd Half & from then on in it was one way traffic. Ashfield continued their excellent form at Holm Park, Yoker today (3/9/11) winning 3-0 against Clydebank in the West SuperLeague Premier Division. Both promoted Teams had made an identical start with one victory in their first three League games however it was the `field that produced the goods today with a tremendous Team Performance. Leading 2-0 at the break courtesy of goals from Alistair Martin & Chris Hall, the `field produced a very impressive Second Half performance with Chris Hall helping himself to his 2nd of the game & Ashfield`s 3rd on the hour mark. Ashfield failed to capitalise on an excellent away victory at Beith last Saturday by going down 2-1 to Largs Thistle at Saracen Park this afternoon (27/8/2011) in the West SuperLeague Premier Division. The `field made a bright start & should have been ahead before Largs were awarded a penalty midway through the 1st Half. Ashfield headed down to Bellsdale Park to take on Beith Juniors in the West SuperLeague Premier Division this afternoon (20/8/11) and came back up the A737 to Glasgow with a terrific 3 Points. Leading 1-0 at Half Time through a Tony Chalmers Goal, the `field were pegged back with 22 minutes to go before Shaun Fraser scored a sensational winner to the delight of the travelling support. Despite being put under pressure in the closing stages it was the `field who almost increased their lead further & Gary McCann & then Tony Chalmers were thwarted late on by the Beith Keeper. After coming back from 2-0 down, the `field lost a last Minute Goal to go out of the League Cup at the same stage as last Season. Ashfield suffered an opening day defeat 2-1 by Cumnock Juniors at Townhead Park, Cumnock this afternoon (13/8/2011) and will be disappointed at not coming back up the road to Glasgow with at least a share of the spoils. Trailing 2-0 at the interval courtesy of two clinical finishes by the home side, Ashfield pulled a goal back with 15 mins to go to ensure a storming finish. Ashfield headed back to Holm Park this evening (15/8/11) to take on Yoker Athletic in the final Sectional Match having already qualified for the Quarter Finals. It was the `whey-ho` that triumphed in an entertaining Match by 4-3. A much-changed Ashfield Team trailed 1-0 at the break before leading 3-2 midway through the Second Half before the Home Team continued their form from last Saturday when they beat St Anthony`s 3-1, to score a couple to win the Match. Ashfield failed to score this evening against the Bens at Tinto Park in the 2nd Friendly of the Season.

Ashfield have been drawn at home to our old Rivals and neighbours Petershill in the First Round of the New Coin Automatics West of Scotland Cup. This is the first time we have played Petershill since the 2004-05 Season when Petershill won a 3-2 Scottish Junior Cup Tie at Lochburn Park. The Cup Tie will take place on Saturday 15th October 2011 at Saracen Park - Kick-Off 2pm.

Jim Smith picked up 3 Awards (Player of the Year, Top Goalscorer & Website Player of the Year) with Gary McCann lifting the Player`s Player of the Year Award. Ashfield lost out on Penalties tonight at Dunterlie Park, Barrhead against Arthurlie in the Evening Times Cup Winners Cup Quarter-Final after a very enjoyable 1-1 draw. It looked like the `field had booked their Semi-Final place against Irvine Meadow on Saturday, leading 1-0 & with Arthurlie down to 10 men, however the home side equalised with 4 minutes remaining to take the tie into Penalties. For the 2nd Season running the Arthurlie keeper denied Ashfield from the spot to progress. A very good Ashfield performance this evening in front of a large & vociferous crowd. Ashfield overcame a talented Girvan side (2-0) at Saracen Park today (4/6/2011) in the final West SuperLeague First Division game of the Season to be crowned Champions. The players put on a really professional performance on a big day for the Club to take the Title on Goal difference from Clydebank. The most pleasing aspect of a wonderful day and Season was the way the players have consistently produced great Football & Goals however the response from Ashfield`s biggest Crowd for years was absolutely superb. A massive `pat on the back` to Stevie Rankin & his Management Team, Committee and of course our loyal band of Supporters who have grown in numbers this Season. It was great to see so many ex-Players and young & old Supporters turning out to cheer the `field on. Next Season will be exciting & extremely tough but lets enjoy this wonderful achievement. Ashfield produced another tremendous Performance at Holm Park, Yoker this Afternoon (21/5/11) against Clydebank in the West SuperLeague First Division to win 2-0 and gain Promotion to the Premier Division . A Goal in each half by Tony Chalmers and Jim Smith was enough to deny Clydebank the Championship and now offers the `field a chance to clinch top spot & the Championship. However it was all about achieving Promotion today and Ashfield had to `work their socks off` in torrential rain to achieve this memorable victory. Ashfield won in dramatic fashion against Cumbernauld Utd at Guy Meadow this afternoon (14/5/11) scoring the winner 3 minutes into injury time after losing the lead 2 minutes earlier. It was a real `ding-dong` battle starting in the 3rd Minute when Cumbernauld took the lead. Goals from Chris Hall & Paul Maxwell ensured the `field went in 2-1 up at the interval. It was a very even second half before the events in injury time which keeps Ashfield in 3rd Place in the League with games to spare. Ashfield produced one of their best performances of the Season at New Cumnock this afternoon (7/5/11) winning 3-0 against Glenafton in the West SuperLeague First Division. Both Teams have been on an impressive run recently and the Match was very even in the first half with chances at a premium. Ashfield bowed out of the D&D Programmes Central League Cup at Saracen Park this evening (20/4/11) losing heavily to Clydebank by 4-0. It was a game in which Ashfield never got into their stride as the Bankies swept to a 3-0 Half Time lead. The `field played a lot better in the Second Half but lacked a cutting edge and Clydebank rubbed `salt in the wound` in the 90th Minute by knocking in a 4th from an acute angle. Ashfield welcomed Shotts Bon Accord to Saracen Park today (16/4/11) for the first time on League Business since the 1997/98 Season and it is the Home side that will probably be feeling the better this evening. Ashfield eventually overcame a very determined Kilsyth Rangers Team at Duncansfield Park this afternoon (16/10/10) in the First Round of the West of Scotland Cup. Ashfield put on a tremendous show in the Second Half and should have had the Match sewn up well before Jim Smith put the `field ahead with 7 minutes left on the Clock. Kilsyth who had played some good Football also in the Match lost their discipline after going behind and after an almighty `melee `caused by a head-butting incident, the Rangers were reduced to 9 Men. Ashfield progressed through the First Round of the Emirates Scottish Junior Cup today (2/10/10) but only just against a very determined Carluke Rovers. Ashfield played some terrific Football in the First Half going in 4-1 up at the Interval & shortly after the restart Stevie Woods made it 5-1 for the `field. The game looked over as a contest however Carluke had other ideas and after pulling a goal back from the spot, the Lanarkshire men scored a further two goals in two Minutes to set up a rousing finale. Ashfield lost out this afternoon (25/9/10) after Clydebank came from behind to win 2-1 at a Sunny Saracen Park. It was another enjoyable encounter between the teams who seem to meet each other on a very regular basis. Despite an early goal from William Ferguson for the `field, the large visiting support were delighted to see goals from Dallas & Hailstones, which ensured a 2-1 lead at the Interval. Ashfield visited Abbey Park, Kilwinning this afternoon for the first meeting between the teams since 1977 & for the Second Week running Ashfield lost a late goal to deny them taking any points back up the M77 to Glasgow. After leading for most of the Match the game turned on its head when Kilwinning Rangers scored two goals in Injury time to deny the `field in the most cruel fashion. Another great Junior Match and the Crowd were certainly entertained. PLAYERS MOVING ON Ashfield`s Prolific Goal Scoring Centre Forward Paul Maxwell has moved onto Senior Level after signing for Dumbarton last week. Everyone at Ashfield F & A C wish the `big Man` all the best for next Season & would like to thank him for his brilliant service to the Club, on & off the field. In addition Alan `Spider` Smith has been signed by Cambuslang Rangers after 5 Seasons at Saracen Park where he played an integral part of Ashfield`s progress from Central District Div 2 to the West SuperLeague First Div. Many thanks for your service Alan and all the best at Cambuslang. Another `Smith` has left the `field, Top Scorer of two Seasons ago Craig Smith has signed for Queens Park. In total `Smiddy` scored 30 Goals in 2 Seasons which was a tremendous achievement. We wish you all the best at Hampden Craig !

Ashfield lost the Central League Cup Final this evening (1/6/10) by 2-0 after putting on a great showing, however it was Clydebank that triumphed after scoring a goal in each half. Ashfield were thwarted time & time again by Stefan Gonet in the Bankies Goal, who had a terrific Match, & was ably backed up by his defence. A good crowd of 829 witnessed a very entertaining game & although the Ashfield Team will be gutted at losing out they can be proud of their performance & this will have given them a taste of what can be achieved if they continue their progress. Trailing 1-0 at Half time & 3-0 midway through the Second Half, the `field fought back to narrowly lose out 3-2 in a frantic finish to the Match.
