Welcome to the Ashfield A & FC website. Ashfield are one of the oldest Scottish Junior Football Clubs in Scotland, established in 1886 and are the first Junior Team to win 100 Trophies. Our home has been Saracen Park, Glasgow since 1937 and is one of the few Junior Grounds to have a Stand. Please have a look around this site, we hope you enjoy it!

The Final game of the season was played out in low key fashion at McKenna Park, Govan this evening with both sides putting out changed teams. What a finale to the Season..........We all knew the `Maths` and what was required before the game & the boys produced an outstanding display to win 3-1 & inflict Maryhill`s first home League defeat of the Season. Ashfield suffered a set back in their Promotion bid this evening at Milburn Park, losing 4-1 to a very spirited Vale of Leven team who escaped relegation as a result. Ashfield produced one of their best performances of the season this afternoon (16/05/09) defeating Johnstone Burgh 6-1 at Keanie Park. It was 1-1 at Half time, however the`field produced an awesome attacking display in the Second Half to take a step nearer Promotion. Ashfield produced a five-star performance against fellow promotion hopefuls Cambuslang Rangers at Saracen Park this evening. Leading 2-0 at Half time with goals from Craig Smith & Jim Smith, Ashfield then scored a further three in the Second Half with goals from Darren O`Donnell (2) and Mark Thomson to eventually run out winners by 5-1. Ashfield secured victory in the 89th Minute against Larkhall Thistle at Gasworks Park, Larkhall today (25/04/09) to keep themselves in the fringes of the promotion race. Ashfield produced a terrific Second Half performance to defeat the League Leaders Glencairn by 4-2 at a Sunny Saracen Park this afternoon. Its another agonising Penalty Kick Shoot-Out defeat as Ashfield are eliminated from the Central League Cup at Shotts this afternoon(4/4/09). With the Match ending all square on 1-1, penalty kicks were the decider and for the second time this season, Ashfield lost out. Ashfield lost to Benburb at Saracen Park this afternoon (28/03/09) to effectively rule out any chance of Promotion this season. Ashfield won a thoroughly enjoyable contest at Robertson Park this afternoon (21/3/09). A fiercely contested match saw the `field come from 1-0 down to win 2-1 with goals from Tony Chalmers and Alistair Martin. Both teams showed why they are at the top end of the League & this result pulls Ashfield back into the very tight promotion race. Ashfield lost 3-2 today (07/03/09) in the League against Cumbernauld Utd. This was the first away defeat for Ashfield in all Competitions in 90 minutes since August 2008. Ashfield suffer another Cup heartbreak - this time in the West of Scotland Cup this afternoon losing to Glenafton on penalty kicks after the game ended 0-0 after 90 minutes. Ashfield almost won it at the last, missing a penalty in the 89th Minute after Craig Smith had been brought down in the box. Ashfield came agonisingly close to putting the Cup favourites out at Saracen Park this afternoon. Leading 2-1 with 10 minutes to go a major cup upset looked on. Ashfield produced a brilliant battling performance to hold the Cup Favourites at Meadow Park this afternoon. Goals from Mark Thomson and Alistair Martin had the `field 2-1 up at Half-Time. The home team put Ashfield under severe pressure in the 2nd Half & equalised after 55 mins. Ashfield overcame Hurlford United (1-0) at Saracen Park this afternoon (13/12) in the Scottish Junior Cup 3rd Round Replay. Craig Smith was the saviour for Ashfield this Afternoon (29/11) at a freezing Blair Park in the Scottish Junior Cup 3rd Round, scoring a vital equaliser in the 87th minute against Hurlford Utd to secure a replay next Saturday at Saracen Park. Ashfield suffered a heavy defeat tonight (4-0) in the Semi-Final of the Sectional League Cup at Saracen Park. Ashfield created plenty of chances but could not find the net. Paul Maxwell was also taken to hospital with a suspected broken ankle to cap a miserable night for the 'field'. Ashfield won on penalties (4-3) this evening against Glencairn after a 1-1 draw. Paul Maxwell scored the winning penalty to take the `field into next week`s Semi Final against Shotts Bon Accord at Saracen Park (3/9/08). Ashfield overcame a very determined Yoker Athletic this evening at Saracen Park to win the League Cup Section for the first time since the 1988-89 Season. An excellent achievement ! Ashfield lost 1-0 today against Glencairn at New Southcroft Park in the First League Match of the Season. Ashfield squandered numerous chances and were denied an absolute 'stonewaller' of a penalty midway through the Second Half against a very good Glencairn Team. The Referee was the only person in the ground who did not see this as a penalty and his performance undermined the high level played by both teams today. There was an Ashfield F & A C Display running the month of November 2007 at the Scottish Football Museum, Hampden Park, Glasgow.
More information on the Exhibition can be found at www.scottishfootballmuseum.org.uk. Many thanks to Kenny Strang at the Scottish Football Museum for sending through the pictures. The Museum at Hampden is opened 10-5 Mon-Sat. and 11-5 on Sundays.
